Resources for small businesses. Just plain common sense.

Is your business running you? Or are you, running your business?

I spotted this curious sign in Westmead Children's Hospital - Sydney Australia.

It was the name of the ward, my 4 year old grandson, was being 'cared for' in, recently.

It made me wonder, which hour in the day, their care was missing!

Unlike hospitals, you don't have to be caring for your client's 24/7.

Nevertheless, you need to take time away from their needs, to recharge your batteries.

The Soviet Union studied the effect of working their workers for 6 days, 7 days, 10 days and longer (without a break) to see how their productivity was

affected.

Surprise, surprise, they discovered if they worked them longer than 6 days a week their productivity dropped in the long term, and sickness and accidents occurred more often.

Funny about that!

Do you make a lot of decisions every day?

Of course you do, your in business!

Most of your decisions are probably correct.

Some of those decisions will be wrong each day (it's just a matter of the odds).

More of them, are going to be wrong, if you work (even in your head) 24/7.

You don't want that, do you?

You are draining your resources for small businesses - your decision making capacity.

So, get the best from yourself in the long term,

* take a 24 hour break from your business every week.

You will earn more, and your family will thank you for it!

How do I know you probably don't take a complete break every week?

As you know, I've been interviewing business owners for years. I've been giving them a snapshot survey of the health of their business from a marketing perspective. (for free - yes, you can be part of this too - just email me on: paul@missingpiecemarketing.com.au)

This is where I get alot of my resources for small businesses

* 97% of all businesses assessed, admitted to not having at least a 24hr

period every week, when they try not to even think about business.

Why does this matter?

It matters because the stories of businessmen with failed marriages and failed health, are proverbial.

Please don't let yourself become one of these statistics!

Our 'Target Practice' course gives you the reason to take some time out every week.

It shows you how Life / Work balance can be a joy instead of a chore.

Don't take my word for it . . .
here is Craig Cook from Atlantis Plumbing:

"When Paul and I began his 'Target Practice' programme, I seriously thought we’d be mainly discussing marketing ideas.
When we began discussing the other parts of my life, I couldn't see how this was going to help my business.
I was sceptical.
In the beginning, I was uncertain about setting goals in areas like my physical development, and family life - areas I'd neglected for a while.
Now, I feel more connected to my wife and have even begun to feel fit again (something I haven't been for years).
My business has somehow benefitted in the process, even though I don't understand how.
If anyone was looking at Paul's programme, be prepared for an emotional journey.
But one that is worthwhile.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Hi Paul,

I just wanted to say that I’m usually busy in my business and my inbox gets lots of ‘newsletters’ from people. I don’t have time to read them – I usually delete them.

But your reports are different. I was sceptical at first, but they put a smile on my face (we must have a similar sense of humour). I find myself stopping to read them, for two reasons:

1. You add a ‘human’ face to your reports; I identify with the stories you tell, to make your point, and 2. They always contain useful hints and tips I can use in my business.

I appreciate your generosity with your ideas.
